S5 Agency continues the journey to Sustainable Development Goals by reducing plastic footprint
As a leading port agency and logistics solutions provider, we recognise that plastic waste is a growing environmental concern. As a responsible business, we believe it’s important to do our part to reduce our plastic consumption and properly dispose of or recycle the plastics we do use. Here are some of the steps we have taken:
Promoting reduce, reuse, recycle among employees
We encourage our employees on showing the problems caused by plastic waste and offer tips on how they can reduce their personal plastic footprint, including using reusable containers and bags, declining unnecessary plastic items like straws and cutlery, and recycling properly. Engaged staff can significantly cut office plastic waste.
Limiting Single-Use Plastics
We identified areas where we could eliminate single-use plastics like water bottles, utensils, and food containers. We installed water filters and encouraged employees to bring reusable bottles and containers. We switched to washable utensils and dishware for our kitchen areas. These changes significantly reduced plastic waste.
Optimising Recycling
We partnered with our waste management provider to implement recycling programs across all our offices. We sorted waste stations to separate plastics, paper, glass, and other recyclables. Clear signage and employee training helped maximise recycling levels.
Sustainable Procurement
When buying office supplies, we look for products with minimal, recyclable, or sustainable packaging. Seeking out eco-conscious vendors helps reduce the plastic waste we generate.
